God is Zealous for Us
Because God is Zealous for Us
My Father, You are earnest, enthusiastic and eager. It is amazing to me that you are zealous in Your love for me—Your bride. You shower me with blessings daily. Please make me ever mindful of Your deep love. I want to be zealous in my love for You in return. Show me how to do that. Give me the mind of Christ.
”For my determined purpose is that I may know Him, that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly”
—Philippians 3:10 (Amplified version)
Appropriate Timing
It is the month of December–that time of year we celebrate endings and anticipate new beginnings. It wasn’t originally planned this way, but it happens to be the month of December that I am writing the last chapter of this series–based on the book “My Father. An Acrostic Devotional. Experiencing God’s Love A-Z”
So, here we go…Let’s talk about holidays and loneliness…Honestly, it is a REAL thing…
Jesus and Christmas and loneliness
The birth of Jesus was celebrated by Mary and Joseph, far from home, without family support. In a stinky stable. Alone but together. They had to have felt the sting of loneliness.
Jesus and Easter and loneliness
The death of our Savior was “celebrated” alone. He was alone on the cross. Tortured. Humiliated. Mocked. Friends ran away. Some were watching from afar but none came to His aid. His family still was not understanding. Even God left Him alone to fully feel the horror of separation. He had to have felt the sting of loneliness.
”He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”
–Isaiah 53:3 (KJV)
His ZEALOUS LOVE put Him in that stable and on that cross.
The ZEALOUS LOVE of Jesus put Him in that stable and on that cross. Share on XPain and sorrow
We know that without Easter, Christmas doesn’t even make any sense. Jesus was born on what we celebrate as “Christmas” and He died on what we call “Easter”. He was born to die. For you. For me. Am I getting too gloomy for you? Don’t give up on me. I have a purpose in all this…
During the holidays we believe family and friends are everything. Yet, many suffer loneliness during holidays. So, what’s THAT all about? Without pain and sorrow, we become complacent in our relationship with our Savior. Our Lord. Yet, Scripture informs us that we only become like Him through the fellowship of His suffering. There is no salvation without the realization of our desperate need – DAILY.
Jesus’s family
Our Savior’s own family questioned His mission. They tried to reign Him in. They thought He needed to back off a bit and take better care of Himself. They wanted Him to go back home with them. Imagine the sadness He felt over their reaction. He understood, but it still had to have hurt.
True Love
You will never be loved by any family or friends like the man of sorrows—acquainted with grief—loves you.
Allow yourself to zealously love Him back.
CHOOSE HIM ABOVE ALL OTHERS
Set aside time daily thanking Him for giving you Christmas (His birth) AND for Easter (His death). Both were painful, lonely times for Him so He understands if it is also that way for you. God is Zealous for us. He adores you enough to endure loving you so deeply and completely. Love Him back!
BUT THAT IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY!!!
He ROSE from the dead and went to prepare a place. he is zealously preparing for YOUR arrival in your FOREVER HOME.
He WANTS You WITH Him FOREVER!!!
Will you say “YES” to His invitation to zealously follow Him?
He could come again at any moment.
WHENEVER you are reading this, may it be a fresh beginning each day from here on out. Prepare your heart to keep your eyes Heavenward. He’s coming again. Maybe even this year on Christmas Day! THAT would be amazing!
Are you ready? If not yet…Just ASK. He’s waiting to hear from you!
Maranatha. Come Lord Jesus!
