You are Kind to Me!
Father, You are Kind to Me!
Your Word says: “Show Your amazing kindness and rescue those who depend on You. Use Your great power and protect them from their enemies.” (Psalm 17:7)
My Faithful Father, others may ignore or make fun of me, or push in front of me in the check-out line, but I can count on the fact that no matter what…You will ALWAYS be kind to me.
Thank you!
God is actually and truly thoughtful and kind
The LORD is interested in you. The question is: Are you interested in Him? God’s will WILL always be done. Creator God is the Blessed Controller of all things. He is the LORD of all.
Will you take the short road of obedience or the long road (like the Israelites around Mount Sinai?) Let’s visit the Israelites a bit…
It was actually a relative short trip that turned into a long trip because God couldn’t give them the Promised Land before they learned to trust Him. To trust that HIS ways are best! Always! To believe that He had their best interests at heart. That He actually wanted to bless them; but their grumbling and complaining and disobedience were road blocks that kept the blessings from getting through to them. They simply did not understand. They had a plan and it wasn’t God’s plan.
For the Israelites so many years ago and for us today, it is true “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him YOUR plans.”
No matter what He did for them, they had a better way. They wanted to be the Lord of their own lives, rather than yielding to their Creator who knows us better than we know ourselves.
God was kind to them through it all, but they always chose the hard way. The complaining way. The dissatisfaction way. But for them, It was all about their own comfort.
They really weren’t used to thinking for themselves. They had been under slavery and oppression. They had been beaten into obedience. They didn’t understand Grace and Mercy. They were used to harsh task masters.
It truly can be difficult
I remember when I was first searching for what my mother had that gave her such peace as she suffered for so many years before she died. I was I was barely a teen. But as I watched her suffering, it didn’t add up that she could be at peace like that. I think that is why for years I thought of God as a mean and a harsh taskmaster. In my mind, He had been “mean” to my mother.
So I get it. But, I hadn’t met Jesus yet.
I understand why the Israelites were the way they were. It’s kinda like when you clean up the “hard drive” on a computer. Our minds, our wills, our emotions are used to interpreting things through a self-preservation mode. There’s all kinds of junk in there. We form our opinions by what we see and feel. We have trouble surrendering control to someone else. We are taught independence in this country, rather than the inter-dependence of working together with the LORD instead of fighting Him.
It is a journey
It takes a while to learn the lessons little-by-little about the kindness of the LORD. EVERYTHING He does is for OUR benefit. It takes time to learn to trust. To begin to observe that life really is better when you read the Word of God daily and talk continually all day to the Creator God. Trust is earned and God is patient to wait as we take baby steps to learn to trust Him.
He is patient and kind and loves “hearing from you” on a daily basis. He actually responds to you if and when you get quiet and STILL enough to be able to HEAR Him.
Homecoming
I love the Bible story of what most call “The Prodigal Son”, but it is mostly about the story of the “Kind and Forgiving Father”. It is the parable of the Prodigal Son and of the Running Father. The son was disrespectful and arrogant. He left home after demanding what he considered his share of the family fortune and lost it all in decadent living. He became poor and was worse off than his father’s servants. THAT is when he finally was quiet and still enough to be able to hear the Lord leading him to go home again. He had a plan all worked out in his head…how it would go if and when he went home.
But, he had never counted on the fact that…
His Father had been watching and WAITING and HOPING for the Son to come home to him.
And…As soon as his father laid eyes on his son retuning home, he RAN TOWARD him. No lectures. Just joy, kindness and forgiveness. That’s how God is with us. He is a gentleman. He won’t force Himself on us. He is kind. He waits until we are ready to stop thinking we are the BOSS of ourselves.
There was pure JOY
He father had longed for his son to come home for so long and now…here he was! Joy bubbled over. Can you even imagine for yourself that the Creator God feels the same way about each of us when we humble ourselves and surrender to His Lordship? Joy is being in the center of His Grace. Joy personified. A foreshadowing.
Jesus is coming again
Perhaps today. Are you ready?
Hebrews 13:6
”So we say with confidence…’The Lord is my Helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Let go and let God…
My Father, You are never ever unkind or too busy or hurried. Thank you!
Until next time,
