My Provider
You defend me from whatever threatens me harm (even things from within me that threaten to undo me). Whatever I need, dear Father, You are it! Whether it be physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, or financial. You are my Provider. Thank You!
Your word says,: “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, …” Psalms 18:2 (NLT)
We are built for fellowship with Christ
But when we try to fill the empty space with something else, we will never be satisfied. Psalm 94:11 reminds us that functioning on our own, without consulting Christ, is futile. A waste of time. It is a distortion of reality. God is the blessed controller of all things.
He promises to provide all of our NEEDS. We can trust Him.
Scarcity can bring fear
The teen age years of my kids was difficult. Money was scarce. Our stomachs were never FULL. I remember one time in particular after the evening meal that my daughter said in such a sad voice, “But I am STILL huuuunnnngry!” I had to turn my back for a second because my eyes immediately filled with tears. NO CHILD should ever legitimately leave the table hungry because there was just simply not enough food.
So, when I married again, we no longer were hungry when we went to bed. But my daughter was still FEARFUL of being hungry again. We understood that she needed a tangible evidence of ENOUGH.
Of course we prayed together about it and we reassured her, but she needed a bit more than that. So, we gave her a box of breakfast bars and a can of pop to keep under her pillow. It wasn’t long before she outgrew the need. She gradually began to believe that all was well—food wise. I believe that the Lord gave us the idea to give her comfort while she healed from the many years of “lack”.
Isn’t that like our Heavenly Father?
Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s prayer and they recorded it for us. One of the verses reminds us to pray for our DAILY BREAD. One day at a time. He provides one day at a time. And He says “Sufficient for the day is our strength.” Believe that!
Food fuels our bodies for strength. (So we can do the unique work He has prepared for each of us to do.)
Are you His?
Have you surrendered control of your life to Him? If yes, then these promises are for you:* God is your provider.
- You’ve got His presence with you always.
- He promises to provide for all of your NEEDS.
- His name, Jehovah-Jireh means MY “Provider”.
Personal example
One morning just last week, He provided a specific answer for me! I had an uncontrollable tickle/ twitch in the roof of my mouth. It used to happen frequently many years ago but only when I ate spicy things. It is a horrible sensation. The onset is always without warning, at the worst times. Like when I was out to eat with my husband and one of his clients. (Spicy foods) YIKES! So embarrassing.
It has been years! But last week, I was in the shower and the water from the shower on my face set it off. I cried out to God for relief! It ends just like it begins. Suddenly without any warning. I HATE it! It is even kinda scary.
God’s compassionate provision
After my shower, I was checking my phone for messages and a video popped up. A doctor was discussing the various uses of baking soda. He said that a teaspoon a day in water makes the body more alkaline/less acidic and removes toxins and heavy metal buildup in your body. And that in turn, helps to minimize pain caused by inflammation. It felt like GOD had wanted me to know about that. I believe He actually orchestrated the the timing of the video so I would see it when I needed it.
So, I’ve been taking one teaspoon in water each day ever since. Such a simple thing to do. And actually good for my whole body. And I already had the baking soda on hand. (God’s provision).

He is my Provider
Do you see the physical, mental, emotional and financial needs He met with that simple act of sending me the video at just the right time and my having time to watch it immediately and having the baking soda on hand already?
Pray. ASK. BELIEVING.
If you don’t ask, You don’t realize He actually answers. Always! EXPECT Him to answer. But accept it will be HIS way, HIS timing.
Believe: Whenever we ask, He answers. It is one of His promises. BUT, we have to ask SPECIFICALLY. How would we know if our prayer is answered if your prayer is general and not specific? Be bold and be specific and trust Him with the right answer for YOU. He LOVES you! He created you just the way your are! And He wants to provide for your every NEED. Even weird ones like a tickly itch on the roof of your mouth!
I am in love with Jesus!
Are you?
I know He hears me when I cry out to Him. I have been learning that the best way to fall in love with Him is to spend the first thing in the morning with Him and in His word…and then the last thing in the evening as well.
TIME is LOVE.
There’s a song: I need Thee every hour. Every hour I need Thee. Oh bless me now my Savior. I come to Thee. Amen!
PRAISE! And BELIEVE!
He never leaves you. But, you must be sure to never leave Him as well. CHOOSE to Pursue a love relationship with Him. Check in with Him throughout the day all day every day. He loves to hear from His “kids”.
Stay Ready
He could come any day now. So, be sure to stay ready because when He comes again, there will be no more time to GET ready! And that would be very sad indeed if you missed out!
Until next time,
