Scripture Memory & God’s Marvelous Works
Scripture memory is important. In this post, Pam shares about a time she was thankful she had committed God’s Word to her heart.
It was in the height of the COVID debacle.
I got the stomach “flu”. High fever. I threw up. The stomach pain was literally excruciating. Like childbirth!
Nothing was helping. It was very late at night. I just sat in my recliner and tried not to move.
Then I ran to the bathroom the second time, and the next thing I knew, I was waking on the bathroom rug. ALONE.
My left wrist was twisted under me and hurt real bad.
I got up off the floor, put on a wrist brace (that I just happened to have in the bathroom cupboard).
I rubbed peppermint essential oil on my stomach every hour or so. (The book of James speaks of anointing with oil for healing.)
And I just sat in my recliner. No energy. Exhausted. ALONE. All night long.
I couldn’t read. I couldn’t do anything at all. The pain was beyond anything I can ever remember.
The Importance of Scripture Memory
BUT a verse kept popping into my mind and I kept repeating it.
I know it sounds odd in this circumstance, but I kept saying these words: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works.”
The LORD. My Father. My God. My Creator. My Healer. My protector. My friend…HE brought to mind a Scripture I had memorized many years ago.
I repeated it over and over and over again. For HOURS!!!
“…I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are your works…”
Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)

Scripture Memory & God’s Marvelous Works
I don’t remember praying specifically for healing.
I just had a peace. A confidence that the God who created me, was with me and knew about my suffering.
With that verse, that I had memorized many years ago, God had me focusing on the fact that He Created me. He “made” me.
And HE does MARVELOUS WORKS.
I just KNEW He was my only hope of healing. He was my only help. I was ALONE.
Now…Four years later, that verse is still precious to me. My wrist is healed. And I am here typing with both hands with no pain.
To God be the Glory! Isn’t God amazing? Isn’t He wonderful to His “kids”?
MARVELOUS ARE HIS WORKS!!!
How is your relationship with Him? These months are a good time to do a Spiritual check-up and maybe a few tweaks in our schedules to be sure that He is still our FIRST LOVE and that we are spending time actively SEEKING Him in His Word daily. And reminding ourselves throughout the day that He is with us constantly. .
Nothing else needs to happen before He comes back again to “Catch us up”… His “Bride” … in the Rapture.
Be ready because there won’t be any time to GET ready when He comes.
