Unwavering Love

My Father, thank You that You are unwavering in Your love for us. You make promises and You never waiver. You keep Your promises. You say what You mean and You mean what You say. Always. You are unwavering in Your expectations and plans—all for our good.

Others may have a love that is conditional and fragile, but I know that You are dependable and unwavering with Your love—always lovingly pursuing until we find You. You have been called “The Hound of Heaven” because You are unrelenting in pursuit of a personal relationship with us.You desire what is best for us and You don’t give up on us. Your love is far greater than any human kind of love. Your love is a FOREVER love. It is never on again, off again! It is never conditional. It is just because You ARE love! It is Your character to BE love. You are forever FAITHFUL in Your love. Thank You for Your patience when there are times when life doesn’t make sense and it FEELS like You forgot us. Those are the times we have to BELIEVE rather than trust the FEELINGS. My puny human brain has trouble grasping just how high and deep Your love is. Thank You.

Your word says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.” – Jeremiah 31:3b.

A Performance Trap

We can so easily get into a “performance trap” with people. People have expectations and we often let each other down. Sometimes we make choices just to make people like us. To make them happy. And perhaps to avoid conflict. Sometimes we do that with God, too. But God has a higher standard of love than that. He has expectations but they are realistic. He appreciates who He created us to be.

Good Enough

Do you ever perform a certain way to be seen as “good enough” and worthy of love?  The only problem is that good enough is simply not good enough. As Pastor Ed Young said on a recent radio program: When we try to be “good enough” for God to love us…“it is a performance trap. There’s nothing I can do to make God love me more…When God looks at me/you, He sees Jesus and Jesus (in you) IS GOOD ENOUGH!”

People Will Always Let Us Down

It hurts when we count on someone and they let us down. When they are too busy to show their love to us, but we can always and forever count on our loving Father, our Savior, our Lord. When we are hurting from a disappointment, we must CHOOSE to TAKE NO offense. Rather, CHOOSE to PRAISE the Father. And turn to the Holy Spirit who  ministers to us on a deep level.. He will do that….IF we SEEK HIM. and then TRUST HIM with our hurting heart.

Accept Yourself as God Accepts You

“You may be wondering how you can accept yourself since you know how much you blow it and sin. The answer is this: If God accepts you, who are you to reject yourself?” –Mark Maulding

Built for Christ

“We are built for Christ, but when we try to fill the empty space with something (or someone) else, we will never be satisfied.

“…yet with respect to the promise of God, He did not waiver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving Glory to God. And being fully persuaded (assured) that what He had promised He was able also to perform.” – Romans 4:20-21

Unrelenting

Father God is unrelenting in pursuing that close love relationship with us. A relationship that believes He will provide “our daily bread” just as He promised. Have you made that decision to trust Him with your life? To believe He is who He says He is? Savior AND Lord. I hope so because He could come at any time. BE ready so you don’t have to GET ready.

A Big, Unwavering Heart

Our Lord has a big heart. He is not fickle. And remarkably, He can hold each of us in His heart all at the same time. He is more than enough for all our needs. He loves us all the same. Daily. Moment-by-moment. He has no favorites. Even if sometimes it FEELS like He has let you down, keep on trusting BY FAITH. You will be glad you did. Because at some point, it will all make sense, even if it doesn’t at this moment. Remember: What concerns you, concerns Him. BELIEVE that!

As I come to Your Word each day, My Father, help me to lay aside those things that would distract me and help me to rest in Your goodness and unwavering love as I focus on You, rather than on my circumstances and hurts. Like mirrors, we reflect what is closest to us. May we reflect You in all our ways, Father.

Until next time,
